California’s Got an Elementary STEAM Lab in the News!The STEAM SmartLab at Discovery School of the Arts (Victorville, CA) is off to a great start! The program was launched this semester and Discovery elementary students are exploring at a wide range of technologies including animation, mechanics and structures, robotics, programming, video production and more.

The Victorville Daily Press visited the Discovery SmartLab and filed this report. The article notes the program’s emphasis on problem-solving across all grade levels. While hard at work building and programming her robot, sixth-grader Zara Haney told the Daily Press, “You don’t do this in regular classrooms. Here you can teach yourself and learn how to work together to figure things out.” According to the Daily Press, key donors who helped fund the SmartLab are also thrilled with the program’s success.
