Gene Krantz at Texas City ISD SmartLab Announcement

Apollo 13 hero Gene Krantz delivered the keynote address as Texas City ISD’s announced plans for a STEM SmartLab at it’s new Blocker Middle School.  Funding for the SmartLab will be provided through a grant from Valero Energy Corporation.

I had the opportunity earlier this year to meet with Texas City ISD staff and discuss the SmartLab concept with members of the TCISD Foundation, including representatives from Valero.  The extent to which Texas City schools benefit from the active involvement and support of area businesses and professionals is model for community involvement in public schools.  We are proud to be selected as their partner in STEM education and look forward to becoming part of this vital community.
