The Making of Nighthawk Man

Written by Bill Laurienti

It’s tremendously gratifying to see SmartLab Studio programs evolve to set new standards in student achievement!

In the many years we’ve worked with Rocky Heights Middle School in Highlands Ranch, CO, we’ve watched them develop into one of the most impressive video production programs of any school in the country.

Under the guidance of Scott Melanson and Tim Ryckman, Rocky Heights’ students produce live daily news broadcasts and award-winning videos that raise the bar for student productions—not just for middle schools, but for students at any grade level!

For the third year, Rocky Heights students have taken on the challenge of producing an original, feature-length movie.

This year’s movie, “Nighthawk Man: Origin” is a story about the school’s very own super-hero. The following video segment,”The Making of Nighthawk Man” provides a glimpse into this ambitious student project.

Congratulations to the whole Rocky Heights team—both students and staff—on this impressive achievement!
