PS 201Q, the Discovery School for Inquiry and Research, was in the news with the official ribbon cutting of their new STEAM SmartLab. The SmartLab, along with a Student Broadcast Studio from Creative Learning Systems was funded through a $400,000 allocation by city councilman Rory Lancman along with money from the Magnet Schools Assistance Program.
New York City Chancellor Carmen Fariña attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony. "This, to me, is what all students should have!" said Ms. Fariña. "It's also going to give the middle schools in the neighborhood a run for their money because these students are already going to go into middle school prepared to be scientists of tomorrow."
Television news channel NY1 was there to cover the event, watch it here.
